I want to share with you why I stopped going to “regular” yoga classes.

Don’t get me wrong – I’ve practiced yoga for 18 years and have received so much benefit from traditional yoga. I still do!

But ever since shakti awakened within me, there’s something that feels missing in most yoga classes.

There’s sense of routine rather than ritual

There’s something mechanical

A feeling of imposing on my body

rather than feeling from the inside out

I’ll be honest – they can feel a bit… DRY.

Often, they are lacking feeling – a certain “yumminess” that I crave.

And as a deeply feeling woman, this often leaves me still thirsty.

A feeling of “something missing”

This is the very reason I created Shakti Yoga!

Because SHE was missing:

The Feminine

𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒕𝒊

Nothing new there… most religions have erased the Feminine

Well – they’ve certainly erased her sumptuousness

Her wildness

Her connection to the power of her womb

We hear a lot about the Virgin Mary

And very little about Mary Magdalene –

The Lady in Red

Who was certainly not a virgin

Shakti Yoga is a reclamation

It brings the JUICE back into yoga

It is a resurrection of the YOGINI –

The female yoga practitioner

And the sacredness of her body

especially, her sensuality

It roots her back into her WOMB

The temple gates of her YONI

And her sacred feminine HEART,

The currents of DELIGHT than run through her waters

There’s a Sanskrit word I love and use often – 𝑹𝒂𝒔𝒂

Like many Sanskrit words, there’s not necessarily a direct translation.

It is said to mean essence, nectar, flavour… particularly a sweet and delightful taste!

Or one quote I love from David Frawley, who describes Rasa as:

𝑇𝘩𝑒 𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑏𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑑𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑔𝘩𝑡 𝘩𝑖𝑑𝑑𝑒𝑛 𝑖𝑛 𝑡𝘩𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠, 𝑤𝘩𝑖𝑐𝘩 𝑟𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑟𝑒𝑠 𝑎 𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑒𝑥𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑛 𝑜𝑟𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑖𝑡

This is the alchemy that takes place in Shakti Yoga!

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌.

A feminine mystery school of sorts.

Creating this 9-month training was an outpouring of love for the Feminine; a call I had to answer.

This training is a far cry from the kinds of courses I studied at university (dry, much?)

It is DRIPPING with beauty;

Infused with poetry, art, storytelling, and filled with feminine wisdom.

“This is not a training – it’s a pleasure!”

“I just want to saturate myself in these teachings!”

To quote a couple of women who’ve done this training ♥️

This is a temple where we practice the ritual embodied arts, and support each other’s unfolding.

This is a training that quenches a thirst of sorts.

It responds to the call of the longing in so many hearts…the return to SHE:

𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒕𝒊

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒆

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒐𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒔

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒂𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒅

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆

To know HER

Intimately

🌹

A remembering takes place as we immerse in these sacred teachings, and practice these embodied rituals, specifically designed to unlock the power and wisdom within the female body

We as women thrive when we learn and practice in community, in sacred circle.   If this is what you’re thirsty for  –  let’s connect!

Jasmine Rose – Foundress of Shakti Yoga School
